Java Developer - Morrisville, NC
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
* Conceptualize, architect and design software applications per standards and development practices
* Develop products and enhance existing applications using object oriented web development with an MVC Java application framework
* Monitor development to ensure standard development practices are followed
* Coordinate with Product Management to produce product definitions and requirements
* Coordinate with QA for software releases and revisions
* Resolve any architectural or design conflicts with requirements between Development, QA and database groups
* Understand how the pieces of a program fit together for the purpose of meeting the requirements of an application to proactively resolve potential technical or architectural issues
Job Related Experience: Five years of experience developing Java web applications with at least two years of experience as a technical lead for Java development. Have an excellent knowledge of programming to include:
* Significant experience with an MVC Java web application framework. Tapestry would be preferred but others (JSF, Struts, etc.) are acceptable
* Highly proficient in web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, etc.)
* Proficient with SQL
* Familiar with additional technologies (Spring, Hibernate, iBATIS, JBoss, Eclipse, Ant, JUnit, XML, XSD, Jasper reports, Crystal reports)
* Experience working with offshore teams
Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated and verifiable experience with full lifecycle software development of a complex web based product. This should include experience developing software requirements, producing design specification, writing high quality software, unit testing, software implementation and integration, and software maintenance and support.
* Knowledge of how to document program design, coding, and maintenance.
* Experience getting critical projects to completion with high client satisfaction.
* Uses sound judgment and experience to solve moderately complex problems.
* Uses independent judgment to identify problems and recommend solutions.
Minimum Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and/or related field; related work experience can be substituted for educational requirement
Physical Conditions/Requirements:
* Position requires the ability to hear and communicate clearly, orally and in writing.
* Uses vision to view screens, create and review documents; requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
* Capable of using a keyboard effectively

Responsibilities
*Perform complex analysis, design, programming and modifications of computer programs for software
*Write detailed specifications, write code, complete programming, testing and debugging of applications
*Document forms, procedures and other documentation needed for the installation and maintenance of application programs
*May be required to be on-call
*Set high standards for others to follow
*Ability to explain concepts with technical and non-technical staff
*Works effectively with all co-workers; team player
*Communicates effectively and in a professional manner
*May provide technical and project leadership and assist in training less experienced analysts/programmers
*Assigned work involves broad range of complex design and programming. Provides input to technology strategy
*Ability to meet heavy deadlines and may be subject to heavy workloads
*Other duties as assigned
Requirements
*In-depth knowledge of Java, J2EE, Spring and Struts MVC frameworks, JSP, Web Services, Oracle relational database
*IBM MQ messaging experience is desired
